platform

The platform was surprisingly empty yesterday, too quiet for my liking.

There was a train crash up in Cumbria over the weekend and as a consequence many trains were cancelled. All the red messages are rail replacement services!

I really like this photo, the way the security guard isn't aloud to play the game but evidently wants to.

Vetrex
Tuesday, February 13, 2007
Sorry the picture of this is bad, but unfortunately its the only one i took. This is a Vetrex console from 1984, and as you can see its only in black and white. So to make it more interesting they made colour overlays. The game on the screen is Space Wars, very simple in its design. Each player has a space ship and has to try and destroy their opponent while avoiding asteroids and the sun. The simple nature of this game makes it very addictive. If you ever get a chance to play on one, take it!

Snow day
Thursday, February 08, 2007
A triple treat today as it was snowing. I woke up and could tell that it had snowed. How? Snow seems to mute all of the sound outside, and this morning was unusually silent. I didn't hear a single car drive past. So when i looked out the window I was greeted with:
A hell of a lot of snow, much more than i was expecting. The first thing i did was try and find out if my train was on time or even running, but their website was being overloaded with request. So grumble about them for five minutes and then decided to get ready for work and hope for the best. This is what my road looked like this morning:
Very cold and slippery, I know I don't live on a main road but there was no gritting at all. Even the road down to the train station was pretty bad and that had been gritted. Though they didn't seem to do any of the paths. So my walk to walk, was entertaining, take two steps forward then slide a few more feet. Its amazing, it doesn't matter how old you are snow never loses its novelty. I got to the train station in good time, planning for the worst case, but to my surprise the train came early! Plus there were plenty of seats. It is crazy how on a normal day the train is nearly always late, yet 3inchs of snow and it comes early. I cant explain that. It was great to see all the people on the platform laughing as the train pulled in. I think everyone was expecting delay, me included. Below is the platform, ice and icy.

Bus
Tuesday, February 06, 2007
Tim got the correct answer to yesterdays question. So congratulations Tim! See yesterdays comments section for the answer. Today we have an old style London bus, there are not many of these in London any more, which is a shame as they look cool, but as most with most buses when I saw this one 30 seconds later there was another one.

train delays
Friday, February 02, 2007
This was from when it snowed, the train was full and this is how many people were left on the platform. There are about the same amount of people behind me too! However everyone was okay, and quite jovial about it because of the snow. Snow definitely knocks years off of everyones age.
