Snow

Wednesday, January 24, 2007

Ah snow, A light sprinkling and all hell ensues. I was standing on the train platform for an hour this morning before I could get onto a train, I would have preferred to have spent that time in bed. To make things worse I think I am getting ill. Boo.

Sadness

Thursday, January 11, 2007

I don't normally write much here but I feel this needs some words. There is a house that I see everyday I take the train. Here is a picture of it back in November. Its an interesting house as it is in the middle of an industrial area. Yet it has flowers boxes on every space available, brightening up the whole area. It reminds me of the house in Batteries not Included for some reason.

This morning I was awoken by the sound of sirens driving nearby, at the time I thought nothing of it. However, as I walked to the train station I was slightly surprised to see smoke rising from the industrial area. As I turned the corner I was confronted with numerous fire engines and police. As I continued on my way I took this image:

But the full scale of the damage to the house was not visible until I got to the platform where I was confronted with:

Note: that's not actually fire, but the blindingly bright lights on the top of the ladder of the fire engine. However you can see that there is no longer any roof and pretty much all of the house has been damaged by smoke and water. As it is in an industrial location I cant see it being repaired which is a real shame, as it was a great house.

My thoughts go out to the people who lived there.
